Inside Iron Horse: Meet Kat Andersson.

Read Time: 3 Mins

Inside Iron Horse is our employee spotlight blog series that takes a look at the people that keep this agency and our clients moving and growing. Join us in celebrating these remarkable people as we dive into their passions, talents, and motivations.

If you made a Venn diagram with Dungeons & Dragons on one side and cats on the other, you’d find our Copywriter, Kat Andersson, right in the middle (and what sounds like an awesome campaign). Kat joined the team earlier this year and has enjoyed writing brilliant copy for our internal marketing and helping to build a more diversified social media presence for Iron Horse. When Kat isn’t working, she’s likely writing, painting, or rolling dice to determine the fate of herself and others in her tabletop campaigns.

What 3 words would you use to describe Iron Horse?

Forward-thinking, Creative, Supportive

What’s your favorite part about working at Iron Horse?

I really like the brainstorming sessions when we get the content, creative, and strategy teams together to work on a project or a solution, really tapping into the collective creativity to create something better.

What do you bring into every client relationship?

As pretentious as it may sound, humility. I’ve found that walking into a new project thinking I know everything that’s going on and know the best way forward from the start doesn’t work. A lot of listening and collaborating with the client and SMEs are necessary before I can formulate any opinions.

What’s your favorite new marketing trend?

The collabs between companies like Postal.io and doing a lot of back and forth between a lot of creative folks in the industry. This is something that could work in almost any industry, not just marketing. Humanized content and strategy aren’t new, but are trending. Any marketing initiative, strategy, or tool that isn’t created for the humans who will consume it just won’t work.

Who is the most influential person to you?

One of my college professors, Lorena Reynolds, a family law attorney. Lorena taught us to consume information (studies, stories, reports, etc.), evaluate it, and form opinions on it. We didn’t know back then just how vital that skill was going to be these days.

What causes do you care about?

I studied a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in college, so I’ve cared about quite a few causes in my life. At the moment, I’m very aware of trans rights and deconstructing my personal privileges. I’m also fairly active in the adult-diagnosed ADHD and ASD spheres.

What book do you last read?

I read the latest, book four, of the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson. It’s the best epic fantasy you’ll find today.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pasta. In every mood, shape, form, and flavor. Especially if it has cheese.

Most important question – does pineapple belong on pizza?

I don’t actually like pizza that much (don’t hate me)
