Inside Iron Horse: Meet Darren Yuen.

Read Time: 2 Mins

Inside Iron Horse is our employee spotlight blog series that takes a look at the people that keep this agency and our clients moving and growing. Join us in celebrating these remarkable people as we dive into their passions, talents, and motivations.

Meet our employee spotlight for February: Darren Yuen, Digital Strategy Director! We’ve been lucky enough to have Darren on our team for four years now, and it’s no surprise that our clients feel the same way. This proud Bay Area native wears many hats, both literally and figuratively. When he’s not working on developer marketing programs for clients, he enjoys the ocean, spending time with family and friends, and having opinions on pizza toppings that might surprise you.

What 3 words would you use to describe Iron Horse?

Passionate, Close-knit, Exciting

What’s your favorite part about working at Iron Horse?

My favorite parts about working at Iron Horse are the community and family aspect of its culture, the vast diversity in colleagues and projects, and most importantly, the fully-stocked Le Croix in the San Ramon office fridge.

What do you bring into every client relationship?

I strive to bring conviction, a client-first and client-only mentality, and perseverance into every relationship.

What’s your favorite new marketing trend?

The most interesting marketing trend to me right now is how Tik Tok and Snapchat are being incorporated into enterprise and B2B marketing programs. It’s this weird mix of pop culture meets corporate culture.

Who is the most influential person to you?

My dad is the most influential person to me because of the perspectives that we share and the world perspectives that we greatly differ on.

What causes do you care about?

I care about opportunities for equal education, Black Lives Matter (BLM), and LGBTQ+ alliance. I care deeply about socioeconomic equality and the former causes fall into that broader bucket.

What book did you read last?

Dynasties by Marcus Thompson II, How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi, and The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It’s a toss-up between a CA burrito and sushi (omakase only!)

Most important question – does pineapple belong on pizza?

Absolutely and sometimes mango. And an egg!
